The DAV Public School, Rohini was amongst the first schools to come up in Rohini. Inaugurated by the late Shri Darbari Lal ji Organising Secretary DAVCMC in the year 1989 in the presence of a galaxy of office bearers of DAV organization to provide best education to the students of the area in conformity with the ideals of Mahatma Hansraj. It was housed in a rented residential premises with about 200 students and 25 teachers with Smt. Asha Katyal the founding Principal. Eminent educationists Sh. T.R. Gupta and Late Smt. Santosh Taneja Chairman and Manager respectively of the School LMC guided the school in the formative years.
Under the able stewardship of Smt. Katyal the School moved from strength to strength. The School shifted to its temporary building on its own land in Sector 7, Rohini. The foundation stone of the School building was laid by Shri Darbari Lalji. The School got its recognition and affiliation from CBSE followed quickly in the year 1991. The first batch of students passed out in 1996.
A hall mark of the School has been its stress on co curricular activities. Annual functions, musical nights in Talkatora Stadium, Mass PT Shows, Fetes, Science Expo. etc to name just a few were and are a regular feature. Eminent personalities from various walks of life graced these occasions.
The School did well in sports too. The school has been the venue for many national level sports events. The School also supports social causes-Adult education, fund raising for natural calamities, for NGOs involved in Cancer aid, Udyan care, Helpage India.
Meantime, the School building was completed and inaugurated by Late Shri G.P. Chopra. The classes moved into the new building from the makeshift structures.
In the year 2001 the School received a rare honor. A contingent of students from the School participated in the Republic Day Parade. It was adjudged the best entry in the State and 2nd at National level. In 1998 the School pageant in the Netaji Subhash Centenary Year celebrations was adjudged 2nd best at state level.
A group of students visited the Collegiate school Virginia USA and in turn their students visited India under the exchange program.
The School received the International School Award (ISA) from the British Council for the second time in 2015 for supporting the integration of international learning in the curriculum.
Over the years the School developed into a fledgling institution with over 3700 students, 125 teachers and 42 non teaching staff and state of the art infrastructure. The alumni of the School made a mark in various fields-civil services, IITs, medicine and so on. During the period the teachers and the Principal and the teachers received State award and various other awards.
The School celebrated its silver jubilee in 2014. Rendering 26 years of sterling services Smt. Katyal handed over the baton in the able hands of Smt. Rajbir Kaur in 2015. Smt. Kaur, known for her hands on approach, is now steering the institution to further fulfill the vision of the our President Shri Poonam Suri ji and under the guidance of Shri Ravinder Kumar ji and Shri Mahesh Chopra ji Chairman and Manager of the School respectively.
